Life is imitating art for one of Law & Order‘s former directors. Jason “Jace” Alexander, who worked on the show from 1994 through 2005, was arrested Wednesday on child pornography charges. According to the Westchester County District Attorney, Alexander was charged with several felony counts of promoting sexual performance by a child after he was caught sharing files. The District Attorney’s office began investigating Alexander on July 24. When the illegal activity was linked to his IP address, his home was searched and he was arrested. “Examination of computers and external hard drives removed from the location revealed digital files of children who are less than 16 years of age engaged in child pornography,” read a press release from the DA’s office. Alexander’s bail is set at $10,000. He’s slated to appear in court on November 19. If convicted, he can face up to seven years in state prison. Read more.


Cecil The Lion Killer Gets Police Protection

Dr. Walter Palmer, the man who killed Cecil the lion, now has police protection. After news spread that he hunted one of Africa’s most prized possessions, many people started sending him threats. Law enforcement officials in Eden Prairie, MN will regularly check his home and neighborhood to ensure that he is safe. “I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt. I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt,” said Palmer in a statement. “Again, I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion.” Read more.


John Legend’s Production Company to Produce New Series

Singer John Legend and his Get Lifted production company recently signed on to executive produce a new project. The scripted series, titled Underground, will delve into the lives of slaves living on a plantation. “We are excited to join forces with WGN America and Sony and the talented team of writers and producers on this powerful project that we believe will inspire us all,” said Legend. “This series has a unique opportunity to speak to the passion and courage of those who risked it all as they raced to freedom.
