H-Town resident claims stacks in $2 million Powerball prize!

J Guadalupe Garcia of Houston claimed a second-tier Powerball® prize worth $2 million for the drawing held on Jan. 13. Garcia missed winning the world record $1.5 billion jackpot by one number. Garcia’s Quick Pick matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn (4-8-19-27-34), but not the red Powerball (10).

The ticket was purchased at the BFM Food Mart located at 5825 Bellaire Blvd. in Houston. Because the Power Play® feature was added, the prize automatically increased to $2 million. The claimant requested minimal publicity.

Powerball jackpots start at $40 million and roll until the jackpot is won. Players win the jackpot by matching five numbers from a field of 69 numbers and one Powerball number from a field of 26 numbers. Drawings occur each Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. CT.
