ATennessee police officer is blaming Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime performance for a drive-by shooting that occurred outside of his home.

Eight shots were fired outside Sheriff Robert Arnold’s Rutherford County house while his wife and two children hid inside. No one was harmed. During a press conference the following day, Arnold singled out Beyonce’s Black Pride performance and her homage to the Black Panthers as inspiration for the shooting.

“With everything that’s happened since the Super Bowl, with law enforcement as a whole, I think we’ve lost five to seven officers, five deputy sheriffs since the Super Bowl, that’s what I’m thinking,” he told reporters Tuesday at a press conference. “You have Beyoncé’s video and that’s kind of bled over into other things about law enforcement.”

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, ten police officers have been killed since the beginning of the year in gun-related deaths. Last year in the same period, police officer deaths were reported to be 13. None of the shootings have a reported link to the entertainer’s performance.

Meanwhile, Arnold is being investigated by the FBI for selling e-cigarettes to prisoners through a private company called “JailCigs.” He is also facing a police brutality lawsuit from the family of an inmate who was brutally beaten in his jail cell. The suit states that Arnold’s “failure to adequately train and supervise his staff” left the victim with permanent brain injury. The family is seeking $20 million.

The Tennessean says police officers have been patrolling Arnold’s area of residence. Arnold tells reporters that he’s “always a target” due to his employment in law enforcement.

Police are still investigating the shooting.
