Gabby Douglas Defends Miss America Swim Competition

Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas got her turn at the judges table when she sounded off on the contestants of the Miss America competition last night.
The swimsuit segment, which is often viewed as one of the more superficial aspects of the show, got extra attention this year after the Miss USA pageant decided to nix that portion of the competition in favor of an athletic wear competition.
Miss Douglas sees no reason why Miss America should go the same route:
“I was watching an interview and I loved what one of the girls said — they don’t think it’s outdated, because it shows their hard work,” she said according to USA Today. “It shows, ‘You know what, I’m confident in my skin.’ And I really loved that answer.”
That sounds like a good reason for us too.
