With so many Texas football fans headed to Dallas this weekend for the Texans/Cowboys game, it raises the question about a patient in Dallas who has been diagnosed and hospitalized with dangerous Ebola.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Ebola is a disease that originated in Africa that causes acute serious illness which can be fatal if left untreated. It is transmitted to people from wild animals and spreads in the human population through human-to-human transmission. Symptoms include high fever, headache, sore joints and muscles, sore throat, weakness, stomach pain and lack of appetite.

As the disease spreads through the body, it damages the immune system and organs and causes levels of blood clotting cells to drop. This leads to severe, incontrollable bleeding.Cases of Ebola in the United Staes are very rare. Most cases reported are in Central and West Africa. The person in this case returned from a visit to Siberia on Sept. 19, not having any symptoms. 5 Days later, however, he began to feel ill, went to the hospital and was later admitted. It is not known who the man may have come into contact with before he was admitted to the hospital but his contacts are being investigated and officials are confident that they can prevent the disease from spreading in the United States. Click here to read more.
