Texans-Giants matchups

When the Texans have the ball

Texans passing game vs. Giants pass defense

Comment: The Texans rank second (415.5 yards per game) in total offense, including eighth (243.5) in passing. They led the league in passing last season when they were 30th in rushing. Matt Schaub is coming off the first game this season in which he wasn’t sacked, and the Texans didn’t commit a turnover. The Giants are coming off a game in which they recorded 10 sacks, including nine in the first half, and knocked two Chicago quarterbacks out of the game. DE Osi Umenyiora (four sacks) and DE Justin Tuck (three) get heat on the quarterback. DE Mithias Kiwanuka (four sacks) is out. The coaches want to keep Schaub upright. That means short drops and quick passes to receivers rather than holding the ball in the pocket until a receiver is open down the field. Andre Johnson (sprained ankle) says he’ll play. Jacoby Jones (strained calf) probably won’t play. David Anderson will have to take advantage of Jones’ absence. TE Joel Dreessen has become a dangerous receiver while Owen Daniels works to regain the form he showed before he underwent knee surgery.
