Author Terry McMillan decided to fleshed out some personal thoughts about Will and Jada Smith’s parenting.  She like many others read, heard or seen the big news that mega moguls Will Smith and Jay-Z were partnering up to develop and produce new movie projects.  The first project was a remake of the classic “Annie” starring Will’s daughter, Willow.  McMillan expressed via twitter “…The Smith children are being pimped and exploited.” Her remarks caused such a stir that day she went back to twitter and apologized for her statement.

Our sister site, hellobeautiful.com reports the whole story.  click here

The Smith children are talented and have shined in movies, I Am Legend, Pursuit of Happiness and The Karate Kid and the hit song, “Whip My Hair.” What Will and Jada are doing for their kids isn’t anything new.  Brandy, Ray J, Raven Symone, Keke Palmer, Beyonce’ and Janet Jackson are just a few kids who’s parents help ushered them into stardom.  Were they pimped and exploited? Did their parents do the right thing by affording them with every opportunity to follow their dreams and be a star?

Was Terry McMillan out of line speaking about other people’s kids?  Is it a crime to desire the best for our kids?  What are your thoughts?  We’d love to hear back from you.
