Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding is at work on the follow-up to her 2010 album, Chamber Music Society, with none other than A Tribe Called Quest‘s Q-Tip in the producer’s chair. Q-Tip confirmed his involvement with Spalding’s project in December 2010 via Twitter.

Q-Tip, whose work has always carried a strong jazz influence, is no stranger to working with jazz musicians. Jazz bassist Ron Carter appeared on A Tribe Called Quest’s “Verses From The Abstract.” Q-Tip has also recorded with jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove. In 2003, Q-Tip co-produced jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel’s Heartcore album.
