Ladies and gents, we’ve got two very glamorous ladies — Jennifer Hudson and Salma Hayek — who both decided to wear the same embellished black-and-gold Alexander McQueen top. Question is … who wore it better?

Last month, Jennifer Hudson showed off her fab new body in the flattering Alexander McQueen top while backstage at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. JHud paired her shirt with black leggings, funky peep-toes, and glossy blunt bangs.

Back in November 2010, Salma donned the military-style top for the Women’s Wear Daily CEO Summit and Keynote Dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, where she was accompanied by her businessman husband, Francois Pinault, who is head of PPR — the company that owns a controlling interest in the Gucci Group … which happens to own the Alexander McQueen label, along with Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Got that?

Salma, who was playing brand ambassador for the night, accessorized her McQueen Resort 2011 creation with long, straight-cut pants, simple jewelry, and a sleek updo.

I love that this regal Alexander McQueen top can be worn equally well by a 29-year-old singer and a 44-year-old actress. Salma makes it effortlessly classic and chic, while Jennifer lends the top a young funky vibe. The only drawback to JHud’s look is that her long, loose tresses obscure the gorgeous detailing on the shoulder epaulettes. It’s a tough one, but the unobscured view gives Salma the edge, so for me, she wins this faceoff skirmish.
