Wade Phillips finally has some security in Dallas.

The Cowboys have signed Phillips, their head coach to a contract extension through 2012, ESPN and NFLN reported. Team owner Jerry Jones confirmed earlier this week that he had picked up an option on Phillips’ contract for next season.

The team called a news conference for 1:30 p.m. ET.

Phillips was on the hot seat for much of this season, when Jones said his future with the team would be determined by how it finished.

The Cowboys won the NFC for the second time in three years and then won their first playoff game since 1996 before losing in Minnesota last weekend.

Phillips has gone 33-13 (1-2 in the playoffs) in Dallas since 2007.
