Chaka Khan loves the kids. That’s why the acclaimed, award-winning singer who was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year is live streaming her upcoming concert, a benefit for the Carl Anderson Scholarship Fund and the Chaka Khan Foundation.

“An Intimate Evening with Chaka Khan” takes place live from Agape International Church in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 17 at 8 p.m. PST. The live stream will be accessible via and will cost $9.99. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the two charities, which provide scholarships to needy young people. Their goal this year is to receive enough to provide 50 college scholarships.

Anderson, the late singer/actor, established the scholarship fund before his 2004 death to help young people gain funding for arts education, but the scholarships, in conjunction with Khan’s foundation, are now open to all majors.

This is Khan’s first concert accessible via live streaming.

“Today’s technology puts me in touch with friends and fans all over the world like never before,” Khan said in a statement. “I look forward to reaching out internationally while performing simultaneously in an intimate atmosphere for local Southern California fans.”

“Most importantly,” she said, “the money we raise will help provide scholarships for deserving students. I hope everyone joins in, either at the concert in person at Agape or via the live stream to help us raise money for kids.”

Khan’s fans can also place bids in an online silent auction prior to the concert all this week. Auction items include tickets to see the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, a private dinner with Khan, a recorded video birthday greeting and original artwork created and signed by Khan, among other items.

The auction ends at 7 p.m. PST.

“Chaka Khan is such a remarkably gifted and talented individual musically,” said Rev. Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith, Agape founder and spiritual director. “But more importantly, she is committed to using her extraordinary gifts to help improve the lives of others. We are honored to collaborate with her to raise funds for these great causes.”
