A suspect involved in a police chase over the weekend appeared before a judge Monday morning. Twenty-four-year-old Andres Martinez led authorities on a 15-minute chase traveling only 40 miles per hour. The chase ended Sunday on the Gulf Freeway near Monroe.
The front of the car Martinez was driving was smashed in as police believed he might have been involved in a hit and run. Police attempted to pull Martinez over but he refused to stop. Officers pursued him through downtown Houston for 15 minutes while he weaved in and out of traffic. He finally stopped at the Monroe exit and surrendered to authorities. Martinez faces several charges, including attempted intoxication assault against a public servant.
