A United Airlines flight from Houston’s Bush IAH Airport to New York’s LaGuardia Airport ran into severe turbulence during Tuesday night’s storms forcing the plane’s pilot to make an emergency landing. According to reports, the 88 passengers who were on board the flight stated that there was issue with the aircraft well within 30 minutes of the flight. The Boeing 737 hit an air pocket during the flight.

Passengers also reported such severe turbulence that they were slammed against the ceiling of the aircraft. Also as a result of the turbulence, flight attendants reportedly flew across seats. The pilot of the plane made an emergency landing in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

An EMT was one of the passengers on the plane and that EMT made efforts to assist the passengers and crews on the plane. After the plane landed, three flight attendants were reportedly taken to area hospitals; their conditions were unknown. The plane was finally cleared for take off and left the airport around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
