Galveston police say bath salts were the cause of a man’s unusual behavior before he died Saturday night.
Police responded to a disturbance call in the 800 block of 21st Street Saturday around 10 p.m. Reports say the man was standing the roadway and would not move, even after officers ordered him to do so. They were eventually able to move him from the street after a short struggle, police said.
EMS was called to the scene because officers thought his behavior could have been a sign of drug use. The man then stopped breathing and medical personnel were unable to revive him at the scene. Officers found bath salts in the man’s possession. According to them, his behavior was consistent with the use of that drug.
An investigation of this incident by Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Galveston Police Department continues.
