Christopher Tate is accused of using his seven-month-old baby as a shield while trying to evade arrest. According to reports, Tate was spotted driving without his seat belt by police earlier this week.

When officers tried to pull Tate over, they said he sped up and drove into a Food Town parking lot; he and three unnamed passengers including two children, got out of the car. Police then stated that they took out their tasers and demanded that Tate get back into his car. According to police, it is then that Tate reached out and grabbed his seven-month old child to shield himself.

Tate then reportedly gave chase to police on foot around the parking lot while holding his seven-month-old baby. Officers eventually stopped Tate and took the baby away from him. The child was reportedly not harmed during the altercation.

Tate has been convicted with a series of crimes over the past ten years that range from theft and forgery to evading arrest. Additional reports indicate that with Tate’s prior convictions coupled with this week’s evading arrest and child endangerment accusations could send Tate to prison for up to ten years.
