The world’s largest aircraft, the Lufthansa A380 landed safely at Bush IAH Wednesday afternoon. The airbus is a double-decker aircraft and holds 526 passengers.

The entire upper deck is first and business class and the aircraft features bathrooms on board and a special humidifier that helps with jet lag.

Because the airbus is a double-decker, the city of Houston had to build a special double gate to accommodate it. The city made $7 million worth of improvements to handle the aircraft and they got it finished on time and within budget.

Bush IAH is one of only four airports in the U.S. into which Lufthansa flies the A380 and IAH is the first in Texas. Lufthansa will offer new daily service between Houston and Frankfurt.
