Researchers have linked salt consumption with rising rates of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Researchers say high-salt diets increased levels of a type of immune cell linked with autoimmune disease, and that mice genetically engineered to develop multiple sclerosis got much worse when they ate the equivalent of a high-salt Western diet comapred to those who had a moderate salt intake. Researchers say salt may induce the activity of a particular autoimmune cell that can promote inflammation. The research was published in the journal Nature. (Fox News)
