A Houston Customs Agent who was charged with kidnapping and robbery is dead.

Police say Jason Washington was found shot to death at his northwest Houston home in what they believe was a suicide. The medical examiner has not ruled yet on whether it was a suicide or homicide.

Washington was accused earlier this month of helping kidnap and rob two Nigerian men at Dreamz Mechanic Shop on Highway 290 last December. Harris County Court documents reveal the two men were grabbed by several men against their will. They were then bound, gagged and tortured. The two were then shot after jumping from a moving van. There was surveillance video at the auto shop showing Washington, in his federal uniform, was there during the incident. Four other men were also charged.

Houston police went to Washington’s home last night after his family called them, saying they were worried because he hadn’t returned their phone calls.
