News92FM’s Jorge Vargas has your morning Sports Watch:
The Astros lost in extra innings to the Reds 6-5.
Jay Bruce hit the game winning 2 run double in the 13th. Reds rookie Billy Hamilton in his first big league game got 3 hits 4 steals and RBI and scored the go-ahead run. While his base running was stellar the Astros had a few mistakes. Jose Altuve one of them in the 11th inning. Manager Bo Porter:
“That’s base running 101, you have the base run in front of you, you stop at the next base, it’s that simple.”
Speaking on 101 that is how many loses the team has on the season with 10 to play. The only question is will they eclipse last seasons 107. They start a 4 game set with the Indians tonight. The Indians are a game back of Texas for the last wild card playoff spot.
Texans at Baltimore this Sunday.
Texans 2 and the Ravens 1 and 1. A big part of the Texans success is due to the production of running backs Arian Foster and Ben Tate. Matt Schaub likes the combination.
“With the wear and tear of the season, it’s just great to see the both of them carrying the load.”
Left Tackle Duane brown may be out with turf toe so Ryan Harris will fill his spot.
Andre Johnson looks like he will be ready to go after suffering a concussion from Titans safety Bernard Pollard.
Pollard was fined $42 thousand dollars and he’s not happy:
“It was no call, now you come back and fine me 42 thousand dollars for what? For me to go make a play, that was legal.”
Pollard explains what he thinks would happen if the NFL keeps enforcing penalties the way it is.
“It you don’t want us to play defense, don’t put us on the field, just let them play with air and see what that does for the ratings of this game.”
Texans corner back Kareem Jackson also fined 42-thousand for his hit on Kendall Wright.
Running back Trent Richardson was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Indianapolis Colts.
