Today is the day that you can register to sign up for the affordable care act, also dubbed as Obamacare.  According to Pulse of Radio is reporting,

While the government was shut down today (October 1st) in a battle over the Affordable Care Act, today is also the day that registration begins for the state health care exchanges that were set up under the legislation, dubbed Obamacare. The rollout is expected to begin slowly, with some glitches expected, and even though registration begins today, people can sign up as late as December 15th, and the plans don’t go in effect until January 1st, which is also when Americans will be required to either have insurance or pay a fine. Eventually, at least half the nation’s nearly 50 million uninsured people are expected to get coverage, either through subsidized private plans in the new markets or through an expanded version of Medicaid in states accepting it for low-income adults.
