Starting six months from now, you’ll have to be at least 21 years old to buy a pack of cigarettes in New York City. That’s the result of a new law passed by the City Council yesterday. Opponents argued that you can drive, vote and fight in a war before you’re 21. Supporters cited evidence that people who start smoking at an early age are more likely to become addicted. The youth smoking rate has declined by more than half in New York City since Mayor Michael Bloomberg started pushing restrictions on tobacco use in 2007.

Let’s just ban cigarettes all togethers.
