(HOUSTON, TX)– More than 14-hundred homeless students are in the Alief School District.  That’s more than double the number of homeless kids in Houston ISDJoshua Baker with the Alief Homeless Outreach Project says the area and its students have been forgotten.

“Cause right now many of these homeless students are enduring two hour bus rides to and from the shelters they stay in and many of the shelters are downtown there’s no homeless shelter, there’s nowhere that homeless students can stay within the Alief area”

He says the students deserve better.

“Students who cannot reach their full potential because they have to worry about a host of problems that no teenager, no child should have to worry about that.”

Baker wants Houston City Council to help with housing and a multi-service center in Alief.
