It’s been ten years since Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl Half-Time Show.

Now, former FCC chairman, Michael Powell, says he and his colleagues overreacted about the nip slip and owe Janet an apology.

From VIBE.com,

After issuing a video apology for the televised mishap, Miss Jackson may be getting the apology she deserves from FCC chairman at the time, Michael Powell.

Powell originally called the incident “a new low for prime-time TV” after mothers expressed their outrage but is now reportedly saying the whole thing was blown out of proportion and regrets how the blame was put solely on Janet.

“I personally thought that was really unfair,” he said, according to Perez Hilton. “It all turned into being about her. In reality, if you slow the thing down, it’s Justin ripping off her breastplate.”

“I think we’ve been removed from this long enough for me to tell you that I had to put my best version of outrage on that I could put on. Part of it was surreal, right? Look, I think it was dumb to happen, and they knew the rules and were flirting with them, and my job is to enforce the rules, but, you know, really? This is what we’re gonna do?”

I always thought that Janet should not have gotten all that flack.  Like he said, it was Justin Timberlake who ripped off the breast plate.

Is the apology too little, too late?
