(HOUSTON, TX)–Houston ISD is proposing closing five schools at the end of this school year.  The proposed schools are Dodson, Nathaniel Q. Henderson and Port Houston Elementary Schools, Fleming Middle School and Jones High School.  The plan also calls for the attendance boundaries to be changed for the Billy Reagan k-8 campus.

Houston ISD says the proposal is part of a plan to address changing enrollment and demographics changes across the city.  The proposal will now go before the HISD board of education and trustees will vote on the issue in March.  The district will also hold community meetings at each school later this month.
