Isaiah Washington will be returning to Grey’s Anatomy. Entertainment Weekly is reporting,
Washington will be appearing in an episode airing in May to reprise his role as Dr. Preston Burke — a heart surgeon and former love interest of Sandra Oh’s character, who will be exiting the series after this season.
Show creator Shonda Rhimes said in statement, “It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey — he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.”
Isaiah Washington was fired from Grey’s in the third season after an on-set conflict with co-star T.R. Knight where he used a homophobic slur. He is one of the stars of the upcoming CW series 100 which premieres this month.
