(HOUSTON) — One person was killed and another was injured in a fiery crash Monday afternoon on the Southwest Freeway near Chimney Rock.
A southbound SUV was reportedly moving erratically when it clipped the back of a U.S. Postal Service tractor-trailer before being pinned against a concrete wall.
Both vehicles continued to slide farther south until the tractor-trailer went over the wall and struck a pole. Both vehicles then burst into flames.
Witnesses on the feeder road below the accident told KHOU 11 that they tried to help.
The 61-year-old man driving the SUV was not able to escape and died at the scene. The truck driver was taken to the hospital with non0life-threatening injuries.
