(HOUSTON)– A first-year Houston Family Law judge’s resignation leaves hundreds of cases in limbo — and it could cost litigants extra money to finalize them.

Former Judge Denise Pratt left behind nearly 300 court orders stacked on the floor and desk of her 311th District Court.

Divorce, child support and custody cases dating back to 2012 are now in limbo.

Pratt resigned after prosecutors began investigating her dismissal of hundreds of cases without notice.
