(HOUSTON) — The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) — the world’s leading conference for offshore oil exploration, drilling and production — wrapped up another incredible show in Houston on Thursday.
This is the 46th year the OTC has been held in Houston. It brings an annual economic windfall of about $160 million to the local economy.

“We are pleased every year,” said Ed Stokes, chairman of the OTC Board of Directors. “It seems impossible, it just seems to get better and better.”
Stokes said this is the largest event of its kind in the world. It’s where energy professionals meet to exchange ideas to advance their industry.
According to Stokes, it is all about education.
‘Sharing best practices, networking, all with the intent of moving the industry forward,” he said.
He said the goal is to make it safer and more sustainable so they can meet the goal of being able to provide the energy that the world needs.
