Alina Banda is a senior at Waltrip High School with plans to attend University of Houston in the fall.

“It’s an honor to be a recipient because it’s really hard to have money to go to college and all, so to have people donate money so that I can achieve and go to college, it’s a wonderful feeling,” Banda said.

Her dad, Rafael Banda, is grateful for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

“To me and her mom, it’s a blessing because if she didn’t get the scholarship, it would be almost impossible to be able to send her to college,” he said.
