What do ISD, MSD and CISD mean?
Most school districts in Texas are called Independent School Districts or ISDs, which means they do not fall under the control of a city or county government as they do in some parts of the country. The few that are under the control of a city or county government are called Municipal School Districts or MSDs. Some Texas districts are known as Consolidated Independent School Districts or CISDs, indicating a merger of two or more districts in the past.
