HOUSTON (September 19, 2014) — On September 23, 2014, Americans will celebrate National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) with a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November.

In light of national elections, the theme for this year’s National Voter Registration Day is Celebrating Democracy in America. With 471 congressional seats up for grabs this year and 36 states electing governors, every American is expected to vote on Election Day 2014. But Americans must remember to register in September in order to vote in November.

That is why communities across the country are planning to use National Voter Registration Day to increase voter participation this fall.

The Texas League of Young Voters is proud to be a National Voter Registration Day partner and on September 23, in conjunction with local radio stations, 97.9 the Box and Majic 102.1, will engage its constituency and community and register voters at the following locations:

Jack Yates High School, 3703 Sampson St., 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

James Madison High School, 13719 White Heather Dr. 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The Breakfast Klub, 3711 Travis St., 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Prairie View A&M University, Memorial Student Center, 155 L. W. Minor Str., 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
