The new crime anthology television series American Crime Stories will focus on a different true crime story every season, the first being, the murder trial of O.J. Simpson, 20 years ago. Most people remember where they were and what they were doing they night of the slow speed chase where LAPD followed O. J.’s white Ford Bronco, driven by Simpson’s then best friend Al “A.J. Cowlings. The incident was the beginning of one of America’s biggest murder cases. Of course, we all know that O.J. was found not guilty of the murder of his wife Nicole Brown-Simpson and friend Ron Goldman, but the trial was one that kept people glued to the television from beginning to end. The prosecution and defense members became household names and catch phrases like Johnny Cochran’s, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit,” became a part of cultural lingo.

FX has slated some talented actors to play the parts of these most memorable characters. Malcolm Jamal-Warner is the latest to be cast and will be playing Al Cowlings. The 10-episode series will also star Cuba Gooding, Jr. as O.J. Simpson, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, David Schwimmer (Friends) as Robert Kardashian, Courtney B. Vance as Johnny Cochran and Sterling K. Brown (Army Wives) as Christopher Darden. Click here to see the full cast of American Crime Stories: The People vs. O.J. Simpson.
