Big ups! To one of the screens all-time greats, Cicely Tyson, best known for her leading roles in ‘The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittamn’ and ‘Roots, was nominated for an academy Award for ‘Sounder.’ In 2013, she won a Tony Award for the Broadway revival of ‘The Trip to Bountiful.’ Cicely is among the six recipients of the years’ Kennedy Center Center Honors, which annually salutes entertainers who influence American culture through arts. Tyson joins ‘Star Wars’ creator George Lucas, actress Rita Moreno, singer-songwriter Carole King, super rock band the Eagles and music director Seiji Ozawa in this years class of ’15’.
