Dear Tom,

I am asking for a Christmas wish for my niece, Zhay’naya Mcnary – as she struggles to assist her grieving dad support her three younger siblings, after losing their mother in a fatal car accident.   In early august, a drunk driver recklessly blew through a red light—forever changing their lives.

My sister, Keyva Jones-Mcnary worked very hard to earn her bachelor’s degree, which was presented to her children at her funeral.  She was excited about a recent job offer, where she would be employed at Harbor Light Program and Services – Salvation Army.   Her first day was to be august 17th, two days after she was laid to rest.

The first thing my sister planned to do with her paycheck was purchase new beds for her children and a dining room table, so they could sit and eat together, as a family.

Unfortunately, the children: Jeremiah, 10; Elijah, 16; Isiah, 17 and Zhay’naya, 21 never got their beds nor their dining table.

In honor of Keyva, I am asking you to grant a Christmas wish of new beds and a dining room table, where her four children, husband and all the aunties can gather together for the holidays and future meals to remember a loving wife, mother and sister.   It will validate to her children that good things can still happen, in spite of the most terrible thing they are currently experiencing.
