In an interview with TMZ, Ice Cube responded to the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton being snubbed for an Oscar nod for Best Picture.
Cube said he wasn’t surprised about the snub and added, “We ain’t worried about it.” Meanwhile, the two white screenwriters of the film were nominated for Oscars.
As a result, Black Twitter created #OscarsSoWhite hashtag, since, in addition to the Straight Outta Compton snub, there were no actors of color nominated at all this year.
One person tweeted, “It’s actually worse than last year. Best Documentary and Best Original Screenplay. That’s it. #OscarsSoWhite.”
Another person tweeted, “#OscarsSoWhite that Rocky got nominated in a movie about Apollo Creed’s son.”
