Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan reminds citizens that the last day to register to vote for the 2016 Primary Election is February 1, 2016.
“Registering to vote is incredibly simple,” said Sullivan. “You can register to vote any local library, post office or Tax Assessor-Collector office branch location. Voter registration applications must be received by my office or postmarked by February 1, 2016 for the applicant to be eligible to vote in the 2016 Primary Election.”
If a registered voter has moved within Harris County or who have changed their names, they can update their voter registration information by visiting www.hctax.net and clicking on the Name/Address Change button under the Voter Registration tab.
“Since I took office, we’ve greatly expanded our voter registration efforts in Harris County,” said Sullivan. “We’ve hosted numerous voter registration drives at local high schools, the monthly US Naturalization Ceremony and even local businesses whose employees have relocated. In addition, we work with multiple community organizations to host volunteer deputy voter registrar trainings. Volunteer deputy voter registrars are a very important part of voter registration, as they assist register voters and submit applications directly to my office.”
Last year, the Voter Registration Department worked with more than XX community organizations to assist in voter registration drives and train XXXX volunteer deputy voter registrars.
“Voter registration outreach and education is very important when it comes to getting eligible residents registered to vote, and I’m very proud of the efforts my office has done,” said Sullivan. “I know we’ll be breaking new records for this year’s presidential election.”
