Legendary blues singer, Johnnie Taylor, is being featured tonight on TVOne’s Unsung at 7pm.

Johnnie was one of the members to the legendary group The Soul Stirrers. He replaced Sam Cooke who left the group for a pop career.

Taylor is known for his popular hits such as Jody’s Got Your Girl, I Believe In You (You Believe In Me), Your Love Is Rated X, Cheaper To Keep Her, Who’s Making Love & more.

Disco Lady” is Taylor’s 1976 single that became his biggest hit. The song spent four weeks number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and six weeks on the R&B chart. It was also the first single to be certified platinum by the RIAA, which sold over 2.5 million copies. Billboard ranked it as the No. 3 song for 1976.
