According to Buzzed, Microsoft said yesterday (June 13th) that it’s buying LinkedIn for $26.2 billion, an unexpected purchase of the professional network that has 430 million members.

LinkedIn will remain an independent unit of Microsoft and keep its name and current CEO. AP reports that the acquisition gives Microsoft the opportunity to further brand itself as the tech company for professionals, and Microsoft will also look for ways to combine its software for workers with the information stored in LinkedIn’s online network.

That sounds like that’ll be cool!
