Black Women Have Worse Survival Rates

For more than 20 years it has been known that the survival rate of black women is worse than white women once they have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Not only that,  Black women are will frequently have more aggressive forms of breast cancer.  As such, they will typically need more aggressive treatment regimens.

Black Women Have Unique Concerns

Prior research implied that there is an overlap of  the concerns of black women and white women following treatment for breast cancer.  However, black women have some unique concerns.

Medical Mistrust a Concern

One study has investigated such concerns in detail. The findings indicate that medical mistrust is one of the leading concerns black women face following treatment for breast cancer.  Read more:
