A new golf course is coming to Chicago. Tiger Woods will be the lead designer of the sports trail, which will open to the community in 2020, reports The Chicago Tribune.

The star athlete, who has already designed six courses, expressed excitement about the new $30 million project. He said in a statement, “This project can create incredible possibilities for the community on the South Side. We want to design a course that everyone will enjoy.”

Chicagoans can expect Woods and his team to break ground Spring 2017, with the whole public 18-hole championship course to be ready by 2020. The course may include either a short course or par-3 course, as well as offer discounted tee times for local residents, writes the news outlet:

The Jackson Park/South Shore course will stretch to between 7,300 and 7,600 yards, with plans for a tee shot over the beach just east of the South Shore Cultural Center.

“The course will have tremendous shot values, which is obviously very important to Tiger,” said [NBC/Golf Channel Analyst Mark] Rolfing, who spearheaded the project and will lead the CPGA. “This will be his first design that gets tested in competition; what his colleagues and peers think will be important to him.”

Sources told The Chicago Tribune that President Barack Obama called Woods and encouraged him to become the lead designer.

And on Dec. 18, Mayor Rahm Emanuel will also announce the new Chicago Parks Golf Alliance (CPGA), a nonprofit “charged with improving Chicago Park District courses and golf facilities, expanding youth golf programs and, most significantly, raising money to make the Jackson Park/South Shore project a reality.”

Woods recently unveiled his most recent golf course in Mexico, reported Golf.com.
