Beyonce has responded to a legal dispute over her record, “Drunk In Love,” where she was sued for wearing Jay Z’s Roc-A-Fella chain in the video. According to The Jasmine Brand, Bey’s team appeared in court to file a motion to have the lawsuit dismissed, calling the claims made by Dwayne Walker — who created the Roc-A-Fella logo, “baseless.” The legal documents said, “She is joined briefly by Mr. Carter at the end of the music video, who is wearing chains around his neck—one of which may contain a large metallic rendering of the trademark for his record label, Roc-A-Fella Records (the film is grainy and the pendant is only briefly visible). It is the four-second appearance of this chain that is the basis for this lawsuit.”
Bey also pointed out that Walker attempted to sue Jay Z for the same thing in a New York court, however the lawsuit was rejected.
In other news, Jay Z and Beyoncé are pretty much balling. According to a new report in Forbes, Jay is worth $810 million, while Bey is worth $350 million, combining for a net worth of $1.16 billion. That wealth will only grow as Jay recently announced that he has re-signed with Live Nation, a deal reportedly worth an additional $200 million.
