Experts say you should never brush your teeth for longer than two minutes, two to three times a day. Brushing too often, or even just too vigorously can eventually erode your gum tissue and tooth enamel. You should be using a brush with a soft head, and apply gentle pressure and circular motions when you clean. If you’re using an electric toothbrush, you shouldn’t really be brushing at all, as the device rotates the bristles for you, so all you have to do is slowly glide it along your teeth.
