From the minds of Spike Lee and Jordan Peele comes a true story that seems a little too crazy to be true. BlacKkKlansman is based on the true story of Stallworth, a Colorado Springs black police officer who went undercover and successfully infiltrated a Ku Klux Klan chapter. Stallworth detailed his experience in his 2014 novel “Black Klansman.”

The film, directed by Lee stars John David Washington and Adam Driver as Stallworth and Flip Zimmerman respectively who work in tandem to impede the KKK’s efforts to control the city in the 1970s. Also starring in the film are Laura Harrier and Topher Grace, who is playing former KKK Leader David Duke.

In the opening scene of the trailer, Washington is shown using an unexpected tactic to get into the minds of the KKK. He calls Duke on his very first day with an important announcement: “Since you asked, I hate blacks. I hate Jews, Mexicans and Irish, Italians and Chinese,” he tells the KKK leader over the phone, as the rest of the office eavesdrops in dumbfounded amazement. “But my mouth to God’s ears, I really hate those black brats. And anyone else, really, that doesn’t have pure white Aryan blood running through their veins.”

Yeah, that wild. Watch the trailer below.
