When “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” was published in 1965, it was not the book that Malcolm, had originally intended. In fact, there were portions that were perceived as too controversial at the time to be published. One chapter of the book, “The Negro”, was purchased recently by The New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, in Harlem.

“The Autobiography of Malcolm X” was co-authored by Alex Haley the author of “Roots.”  The missing chapter, as well as the manuscript of the autobiography has handwritten edits by Malcolm and Alex Haley.

More information on the find was released Friday.  Does it make you want to know how Malcolm wanted to finish the story? Madison Park and Kwegyirba Croffie writes more on “The Autobiography of Malcolm X.  ”Read more at CNN.com..
