Texas Liquor Store Hours and Closings for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NYE and New Year’s Day

If you’re looking to stock up on some drinks, keep in mind that our major year-end holidays fall on weekdays this year, which will have an impact on store hours and openings.
Grocery and convenience stores in Texas can sell beer and wine between 7 a.m. and midnight from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, sales begin at 7 a.m. and extend until 1 a.m. on Sunday mornings. In 2021, Texas updated its laws regarding the purchase times for beer and wine on Sundays, moving it from noon to 10 a.m.
Licensed liquor stores can conduct business from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Here’s a quick rundown on what days and times you can purchase liquor.
CHRISTMAS EVE
Texas liquor stores will be open on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. Texas law allows liquor stores to operate between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
CHRISTMAS DAY
Per Texas law, liquor stores across the Lone Star State will be closed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS
Stores will reopen at 10 a.m. Dec. 26.
NEW YEAR’S EVE
Liquor stores in Texas will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.
NEW YEAR’S DAY
Liquor stores across Texas will be closed on Jan. 1, 2025, per state law.
YOU CAN STILL BUY BEER AND WINE ON CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S DAY
While some major stores will be closed in observance of Christmas and New Year’s day, you can still find convenience stores that will be open.
