Beyoncé Lands Another Shot At Her First Emmy As Cowboy Carter NFL Halftime Show Takes On ‘SNL’, Twice

Beyoncé has received double nominations for her Netflix special Beyoncé Bowl at the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards. The special, which showcased her NFL 2024 Christmas Day Halftime Show performance, has been recognized in the categories of Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special and Outstanding Variety Special (Live).
During the special, “Cowboy Carter” creator hit the stage at NRG Stadium, putting on a spectacular 12-minute halftime performance as the Baltimore Ravens took down her home team, the Houston Texans, on Christmas Day 2024. It marked the first live performance of songs from her eighth studio album “Cowboy Carter.” Beyoncé co-directed the special with Alex Rudzinski, marking her first Emmy nominations since 2019. The nominations present the opportunity for Beyoncé to secure her first Primetime Emmy win.

The special faces tough competition in both categories, including Kendrick Lamar’s Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show and The Oscars. Additionally, choreographers Tyrik Patterson, Charm La’Donna, Christopher Grant, and Parris Goebel received a nomination for Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming for their work on Beyoncé Bowl
She’s weeks away from wrapping her Cowboy Carter and Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour for her album. The nine-city tour has spanned the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale set for July 26 in Las Vegas.
Although she hasn’t won an Emmy, Beyoncé received two nominations for her visual album “Lemonade” in 2016. Three years later, she received four Emmy nods for her “Homecoming” documentary. She also scored nominations for her 2013 Super Bowl halftime show; an “On The Run Tour” HBO special with husband Jay-Z in 2015 and the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.
Chosen by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, this year’s Emmy Awards will recognize the best in primetime TV that aired or streamed between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025.
