Who decides if you are going to be a success or failure? Believe it or not the answer is “you”.  No one determines whether you are going to make it but “you”.

You are either moving towards or away from success depending on your thoughts and actions. To achieve success you must be intentional our lives are not like Forrest Gump where he was fortunate to stumble into success. Did you know everyday you have a chance to make success happen?

We are making decisions every second of the day. Did you know even when you are not making a choice you are making a choice. We are determining the state of our future with every decision we make or do not make. I am sure you have heard the saying that “you are the sum total of all your thoughts and decisions.”

I am a board member of large non-profit that serves the needs of the Los Angeles urban community we recently hosted our annual luncheon. One of the guest speakers was a man who was one of the organization’s success stories. He shared how he made some decisions that put him in jail and the organization helped him transition back into mainstream life with job training, life skills and a job. The room was full of corporate executives and community leaders and he concluded his speech with this statement “The only thing that separates us are the decisions that I have made.” This statement could not be more true.

The place that you find yourself in right now is based on the subtotal of the decisions you have made thus far. Think about it, that means the friends, the spouse, job, the bank account, house, car and college (just to name a few) that you have are a subtotal of the choices you have made.  I hope you can see I  am trying to challenge you to think differently and to encourage you to make successful decisions and not just do what makes you feels good.  Watch what you think and how your act.

The Fall session of Set For Life (For More Information: Click Here) is about to  graduate. One of the first things that we coach is eliminate a negative thinking for 90 days, the second is to only speak in the present tense not talking about what happened in the past. These are just a few of the things we do to train you to achieve your goals.

There are 45 days left this year. It is not too late to start achieving your goals.  You just have to make a decision and get out of your way.

Ask yourself:

What decisions have I made this year? Have I put anything into action? Am I still standing still? What activities or people can I eliminate that will get me closer to my dreams and goals?  How can I improve the decisions that I am making? What am I planning to accomplished next year and what will I start, stop or carry over to completed next year?

That is right we are beginning to plan for 2010.

The Challenge:

Watch your thoughts, they become words.

Watch your words, they become actions.

Watch your actions, they become habits.

Watch your habits, they become your character.

Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

It is my desire that you are inspired to be good steward over these three areas of your life: Time, Talent, Treasure. Time, you must learn to manage your time; talent you have skills and gifts and lastly treasure, your finances need to managed appropriately. All of these areas work together, when they are managed properly you will be able to become A BETTER YOU!
