In an email interview, Solomon-Simmons condemned the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for denying his team access to Holtzclaw, but granting access to 20/20. In February, a spokesman refused to disclose his whereabouts to NewsOne, saying it's common practice for the department to conceal the whereabouts of high-profile prisoners for their protection.

The U.S. Department of Education announced that Oklahoma City Schools settled a complaint over racially biased student discipline. The school district agreed to modify its policies. This follows a civil rights investigation into unfair treatment of African-American students.

A group of Holtzclaw's victims ironically sang "Happy Birthday" to the 29-year-old after a judge found him guilty on 18 of 36 counts, including rape and sodomy. The jury's decision was delivered on the former cop's birthday.

Daniel Holtzclaw was found guilty on 18 of 36 charges, which ranged from rape, sexual battery and other charges.

Throughout the trial, the defense has been emphasizing many of the victims' pasts in sex work and drug use, accusing them of lying and of having agendas to debunk their credibility.

Holtzclaw is facing 36 counts of rape, sexual battery, forcible sodomy and stalking. The former Oklahoma City cop could be served with a life sentence if convicted.
