Jay Z is the target of an alleged extortion plot. According to TMZ,

A producer named Chauncey Mahan was in possession of some of Jay’s masters that were recorded between 1998 and 2002 — which Jay and Roc-A-Fella presumed were lost. But turns out, they’ve been sitting in Mahan’s storage locker in California. Last Friday (April 19th),. Mahan called Live Nation to set up a deal with Jay Z to sell them back to him for $100,000 as a “storage fee.” Mahan agreed on $75,000 and set up a meeting with the hip-hop mogul’s team. When he went to meet up with Live Nation, LAPD was waiting for him and took him into custody. Mahan was not arrested, but Jay Z and his lawyers have filed a grand larceny complaint against him.

HA!  That’s what he gets!
