David Stern understands the media pretty well, you guys. He knows that there’s hardly anything going on around the NBA in August, so he has planned for part of the NBA’s schedule to be released Tuesday night on NBATV. That choice fits in pretty well with the NBA’s new initiative to broadcast any announcement with even the slightest bit of relevance to professional basketball. Thanks for that, Mr. Cool Cakes.

However, since it’s 2k10, little bits and pieces of the NBA schedule are leaking right and left. Hack the planet, pizza.net, fight the power — this is what Chuck D was talking about, for sure. What we’ve got so far is pretty nice.

[The Heat] will not play its 2010-11 home opener until Friday Oct. 29 at AmericanAirlines Arena — three days after it opens [the NBA] season Tuesday Oct. 26 at TD Garden against the Boston Celtics.
The first South Florida exposure during the regular season for the roster that Pat Riley overhauled last month will come on Oct. 29, against the Orlando Magic.
Instead, after the Heat opens the regular season where it ended the 2010 NBA playoffs, in Boston against the Celtics, the preliminary schedule obtained by the Sun Sentinel shows the Heat next playing a road game on Wednesday Oct. 27 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Only then, after taking Thursday Oct. 28 off, will the Heat host its 2010-11 regular-season home opener against former Heat coach Stan Van Gundy, All-Star center Dwight Howard(notes) and the Orlando Magic. […]
[The] Sun Sentinel has learned that the Heat will also play Christmas Day at Staples Center against the Los Angeles Lakers, one of two games this coming season against the two-time defending NBA champions.
The Heat on national TV the first two nights of the NBA season ain’t no big surprise. Heck, it wouldn’t be a surprise if all 82 of their games were in primetime.

LeBron James and the Miami Heat will make their first of two visits to Quicken Loans Arena on Dec. 2, The Plain Dealer has learned.
The first game with Miami will be a nationally televised broadcast on TNT.

Oh, nice. Let’s hope federal armed forces have already been booked for that first night. Riots are highly likely. Better to prepare ahead of time.
There have also been a few non-Heat schedule leaks. The Bulls also will play their first game on Oct. 27. Their first-ever game with the spectacularly hairy Carlos Boozer(notes) will be in Oklahoma City taking on the Thunder. The Bulls also face the Knicks as part of a Christmas day double-header with that Heat/Lakers tilt. Meanwhile, the Knicks open their season Oct. 27 in Canada with the Raptors, then have their first home game three days later against the Trail Blazers.
